Electronic consignment notes (ETrN)
ETrN (electronic consignment note; in the interface it appears under its Russian abbreviation "ЭТрН") is a consignment note in electronic form. It replaces the usual paper one: the same document, the same parties and the same signatures, except that it is signed with an electronic signature and stored in a state system instead of a folder in the driver's cab.
LogiFlow works with ETrN through the EDI operator Kontur.Logistics. The operator submits the note to the state system and delivers it to the other participants of the carriage.
What this gives you
- No paper to carry around and collect. The parties sign the note from their own systems, wherever they happen to be.
- You can see which step the document is at. The shipment and the request show whose turn it is to sign right now.
- Documents do not get lost. The signed note is kept by the operator and in the state system; the printable form and the archive can be downloaded at any time.
- Fewer discrepancies. The note's data is taken from the carriage record — nobody retypes it a second time by hand.
Who takes part
A consignment note has three main parties — the same as on paper:
| Party | Who this is | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| Consignor | the one who hands over the cargo | draws up the note and signs first |
| Carrier | the one who transports it | confirms acceptance of the cargo, then delivery |
| Consignee | the one who receives the cargo | confirms receipt |
Each party signs its own part of the document — that part is called a title (a section of the consignment note signed by one party; in the interface these are labelled Т1-Т8). For details on the signing order see How a consignment note progresses.
When your company arranges the carriage for a client and the cargo belongs to someone else, the note gains a fourth party:
| Party | Who this is |
|---|---|
| Customer | the one for whom the carriage is arranged |
In this case your company acts as a freight forwarder: the cargo belongs to someone else, but you order and document the carriage. How this is marked in the request is covered in Working as a freight forwarder.
The carrier specifies the driver when drawing up the note, and the driver receives a notification. The delivery key is the driver's phone number, so it is important to enter it correctly: with a mistake in the number the confirmation request will not arrive.
When an ETrN is not needed
An electronic consignment note replaces the paper consignment note, and that one is not drawn up for every carriage. A note is not required if:
- the cargo is carried by the company's own transport for its own needs — a vehicle waybill (Russian путевой лист) is issued instead;
- the carriage is international — the CMR note applies there;
- the cargo travels by air or by rail — those modes of transport have their own documents;
- a freight forwarder carries with its own transport cargo that it has taken into its possession.
In borderline cases use a simple rule of thumb: a note is needed wherever the cargo is handed over to a third-party carrier under a contract of carriage.
What you need in order to start
Preparation splits into two parts — and different people do them.
The company administrator connects the legal entity to Kontur.Logistics and sets up the signatories. This is done once. See Getting ready.
Whoever signs (usually a manager) sets up their own computer: the electronic signature is applied on their machine, not on the server. See Electronic signature.
Until the legal entity is connected to Kontur.Logistics, work with electronic consignment notes is not shown in shipments and requests. This is normal: the integration has not been set up yet.
Where to find ETrN in the system
- In a shipment — the "ЭТрН" (ETrN) tab, and for each leg on the "Маршрут" (Route) tab a block with the state of the note, the next step and action buttons.
- In a request — the "ЭТрН" (ETrN) tab and the same block on the "Информация" (Information) tab.
- In the settings — the "Контур.Логистика" (Kontur.Logistics) section: connections, signatories, powers of attorney and the company-wide list of notes.
The same thing shows up under several names: ЭТрН / ETrN, electronic consignment note, electronic TrN, ЭПД (electronic transport document). Until August 2026 the settings section was called Goslog — if you remember it under that name or see it in older instructions, look for Kontur.Logistics. The state system the note ends up in is GIS EPD, the Russian state electronic transport documents system.
